ATEX Certification for LR BRICK
ETANCO has just received the ATEX certification of case "a" for the LR BRICK system with a double wall in seismic conditions.
Certificate number CSTB: 3304 V1
About the LR BRICK Process
The LR BRICK process is an ETANCO support system designed for non-load-bearing façade masonry with double wall exterior cladding (with ventilated air space), in compliance with NF DTU 20.1. The inner cladding wall is made of concrete, with or without additional exterior thermal insulation.
Seismic Standards
Previously, the use of double mud brick walls did not differentiate between seismic and non-seismic areas.
On November 1, 2012, the previous seismic standard, PS 92, was replaced by Eurocode 8, imposing stricter restrictions that prohibited the use of double walls in seismic conditions.
This ATEX certification now allows us to expand the application of the LR BRICK system across various construction sites, both seismic and non-seismic. Besides validating LR BRICK under seismic constraints, the fire resistance has also been approved through this ATEX certification.
Definition of ATEX
An ATEx is a Technical Evaluation of Experimentation intended solely for innovative products and processes. The seismic resistance of the LR BRICK system has been positively tested in CSTB laboratories, in trials based on CST 3728 standards from January 2013.
Seismic Test Results
The tests confirmed that the reinforced LR BRICK support console can absorb the intense pushing and pulling forces simulated under seismic conditions.
